Hello, I’m Alecia Barrett, the founder and owner of A. Barrett Academy. With a
career spanning back to 2007, I have dedicated my professional life to the field of
developmental disabilities.
My journey began in residential services and transitioned to outpatient care through a local mental health agency, where I developed a deep understanding of the often-overlooked needs of families and children. I witnessed the daily challenges families face when children struggle with personal care tasks—meltdowns, aggression, incomplete routines, and non-compliance—along with the emotional toll on parents.
Over the years, I’ve taken on roles in staff supervision, program coordination, service oversight, and parent/staff training. One of my proudest accomplishments was leading the development of a program for 15 children (ages 2–5) diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping families build skills and reduce challenging behaviors.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to empowering individuals and families toward growth and independence—so eventually, my support is no longer needed.
